This section of the SCP should answer the following questions:
We recommend you start with Personality Draft Generator to get a starting point that should answer the following questions:
- The character’s motivations and attitudes and how he/she might react to people and events?
- Personality type? Mental state? Basic nature? Temperament? Emotional state? Is the character always gloomy, whines, complains, is cheerful, or grumpy.
- Handicaps, fears, inhibitions? Likes/hates to cook, carve, sew, fight, wrestle, etc.
- Is claustrophobic or is shy.
Here are some questions that effect how a person interacts with the world.
- What is this person’s physical health like?
- Any nickname(s) or secret names. How did they get them?
- Afraid of squirrels, blue flowers or gnats, etc.
- Outgrew something that still occasionally ‘comes back’ to haunt the character.
- Who are their friends? Why?
- Enemies or annoying people. Why?
- Voice quality, style of speech, favorite expressions?
- What makes them laugh? What does their laugh sound like?
- Distinguishing characteristics or gestures.
- Style of dress? Favorite clothes?
- Where would they go on vacation?
- What do they like to do with their spare time?
- Favorite place? Hideouts?
- Does this person have a hero? Someone they look up to?
- Any romantic experience? Good, bad, horrific?
- What is one thing they REALLY like?
- Will readers like or dislike the character?
- Will readers remember the character?
Remember stereo-types and cliche’s are alright, IF used sparingly. This is always a work in progress!
