As of MV941, Ulvan is 58 years old, 5’10” tall, about 185 lbs. He has the complexion of a man who has lived all his life on the great sea, long, flame red hair and dark green eyes. He has a bean-pole body type but he is wiry-strong and very flexible. He has the merchants guild mark (a scar of three equidistant round balls) on his upper left arm and a metal ring at each end of his mustache. Like most of the crew, he wears a leather vest, gloves, breaches and shoes.

Ulvan lives in a world of facts and concrete needs. He lives in the present, with his eye constantly scanning his personal environment to make sure that everything is running smoothly and systematically. He honors traditions and laws, and has a clear set of standards and beliefs. He expects the same of others, and has no patience or understanding of individuals who do not value these systems. He values competence and efficiency, and like to see quick results for his efforts.
Ulvan is a take-charge person. He has such a clear vision of the way that things should be, that he naturally steps into leadership roles. He is self-confident and aggressive. He is extremely talented at devising systems and plans for action, and at being able to see what steps need to be taken to complete a specific task. He can sometimes be very demanding and critical, because he has such strongly held beliefs, and is likely to express himself without reserve if he feels someone isn’t meeting his standards. But at least his expressions can be taken at face-value, because Ulvan is extremely straight-forward and honest.
Ulvan is usually a model citizen, and pillar of the community. He takes his commitments seriously, and follows his own standards of “good citizenship” to the letter. Ulvan enjoys interacting with people, and likes to have fun. He can be very boisterous and fun at social events, especially activities which are focused on the family, community, or work.
Ulvan needs to watch out for the tendency to be too rigid, and to become overly detail-oriented. Since he puts a lot of weight in his own beliefs, it’s important that he remember to value other people’s input and opinions. If he neglects his Feeling side, he may have a problem with fulfilling other’s needs for intimacy, and may unknowingly hurt people’s feelings by applying logic and reason to situations which demand more emotional sensitivity.
When bogged down by stress, Ulvan often feels isolated from others. He feel as if He is misunderstood and undervalued, and that his efforts are taken for granted. Although normally he is very verbal and doesn’t have any problem expressing himself, when under stress he has a hard time putting his feelings into words and communicating them to others.
Ulvan values security and social order above all else, and feels obligated to do all that he can to enhance and promote these goals. He will plow a field, vote, join the militia, attend town meetings, and generally do anything that he can to promote personal and social security.
Ulvan puts forth a lot of effort in almost everything that he does. He will do everything that he thinks should be done in his job, marriage, and community with a good amount of energy. He is conscientious, practical, realistic, and dependable. While he will dutifully do everything that is important to work towards a particular cause or goal, he might not naturally see or value the importance of goals which are outside of his practical scope. However, if he is able to see the relevance of such goals to practical concerns, you can bet that he’ll put every effort into understanding them and incorporating them into his quest for clarity and security.
