Frostport – Hamlet History

Frostport was founded in MV797 by the five founding families. It’s a small port northwest of Bansu, located on the far northern shore. At last count there were 115 residents, classifying this as a hamlet.

At 126 years old, Nils is the oldest local and as a young man was friends with a few childrenĀ of founders when they were very old.

Pre-founding History

Before the council was formed, several clans huddled just close enough that they could tolerate each other but, not so far away that they could not rise to a challenge quickly. Over time each clan found something that they produced well and that the others desired. These became trades and the seeds of commerce.

Government

About two hundred years ago representatives from the local clans formed a council. The head of each eligible clan holding one vote. The eldest council member has one vote and an additional tie breaking vote if needed. The eldest council member bears the honorary and functional title of Town Mayor. Currently this is Malmury the Master Mason. For a clan to be recognized by the council, there must be at least 3 clan members residing in or very near Frostport. The trades initially recognized were:

  • Clan Karunda – Farmers & Herdsman
  • Clan Shosenna – Fisherman & Gamesman (hunters)
  • Clan Kang – Masons, Miners & Forgers (blacksmith)
  • Clan Weften – Weavers, Tanners & Turners
  • Clan Gnaalt – Woodsman (lumberjacks & carpenters)
