Introduction & Physical Appearance [sws_short s=”intro”]
Original Story Member: Kerry Townsend.
Kemper is 5 foot 7 inches tall and weighs 176 lbs. He looks to be about 112 years old with short, curly, white hair (with a wide dark streak in the middle.) Before age 30 years his hair was all dark. The first few years while the sides became white, he did nothing special. But the change bother’s him so much that he regularly shaves his head now. He also has ruddy skin and hooded brown colored eyes. He’s clothed in orange with an ornate Grey leather overcoat.
Genealogy [sws_short s=”geneo”]
Kipall and Indra (Tull) Karshin settled in a modest home ‘on the ground’ north of Bansu Castle where Kemper & Palin were born later. See his family tree.
We say ‘on the ground’ because there are those that live ‘up’ in the castle and many more that live ‘on the ground’ near the castle. Father and mother (Kipall and Indra) passed away of natural causes, when he was twenty-four. When his parents died, Kemper had his sister Palin Karshin come live near him up at the castle.
Personality Profile [sws_short s=”pers”]
Kemper is a natural born leader. He lives in a world of possibilities where he sees all sorts challenges to be surmounted, and he wants to be the one responsible for surmounting them. He has a drive for leadership, which is well-served by his quickness to grasp complexities, his ability to absorb a large amount of impersonal information, and his quick and decisive judgments. He is a “take charge” person.
Kemper is very career-focused, and fits into a fast paced world quite naturally. He is constantly scanning his environment for potential problems which he can turn into solutions. He generally sees things from a long-range perspective, and is usually successful at identifying plans to turn problems around – especially problems of a corporate nature. He is likely to be successful in the business world, because he is so driven to leadership. He is tireless in his efforts on the job, and driven to visualize where the business is headed. For these reasons, he is a natural business leader.
There is not much room for error in the world of Kemper. He dislikes to see mistakes repeated, and has no patience with inefficiency. He may become quite harsh when his patience is tried in this respect, because he is not naturally tuned in to people’s feelings, and more than likely doesn’t believe that he should tailor his judgment in consideration for people’s feelings. Kemper, may have difficulty seeing things from outside his own perspective. He also naturally has little patience with people who do not see things the same way as himself. Kemper needs to consciously work on recognizing the value of other people’s opinions, as well as the value of being sensitive towards people’s feelings. In the absence of this awareness, Kemper is a forceful, intimidating and overbearing individual. This may be a real problem for him, who may be deprived of important information and collaboration from others. In his personal world, it can make Kemper overbearing as a spouse or parent.
Kemper has a tremendous amount of personal power and presence which will work for them as a force towards achieving their goals. However, this personal power is also an agent of alienation and self-aggrandizement, which he would do well to avoid.
Kemper is very forceful, a decisive individual. He makes decisions quickly, and is quick to verbalize his opinions and decisions to the rest of the world. If Kemper has not developed his Intuition (MB), he will make decisions too hastily, without understanding all of the issues and possible solutions. On the other hand, if Kemper has not developed his Thinking (MB) side, he will have difficulty applying logic to his insights, and will often make poor decisions. In that case, he may have brilliant ideas and insight into situations, but he may have little skill at determining how to act upon that understanding, or his actions may be inconsistent. If Kemper has developed in a generally less than ideal way, he may become dictatorial and abrasive – intrusively giving orders and direction without a sound reason for doing so, and without consideration for the people involved.
Although Kemper is not naturally tuned into other people’s feelings, he is likely to have a very strong sentimental streak. Often these sentiments would be very powerful, although he will likely hide it from general knowledge, believing these feelings to be a weakness. Because the world of feelings and values is not where Kemper naturally functions, he may sometimes make value judgments and hold onto submerged emotions which are ill-founded and inappropriate, and will cause him problems – sometimes rather serious problems.
Kemper loves to interact with people. He is energized and stimulated primarily externally. There’s nothing more enjoyable and satisfying to Kemper than having a lively, challenging conversation. He especially respects people who are able to stand up to him, and argue persuasively for their own point of view. There aren’t too many people who will do so, however, because Kemper is such a very forceful and dynamic presence with a tremendous amount of self-confidence and excellent verbal communication skills. Even the most confident individuals may experience moments of self-doubt when debating a point with Kemper.
Kemper wants his home to be beautiful, well-furnished, and efficiently run. He is likely to place much emphasis on his children being well-educated and structured, to desire a congenial and devoted relationship with his spouse. At home, Kemper needs to be in charge as much as he does in his career. Kemper is likely best paired with someone who has a strong self-image, who is also a
Thinking (MB) type. Because Kemper is primarily focused on career, he may have difficulty with being constantly absent from home, physically or mentally.
Kemper has many gifts which make it possible for him to have a great deal of personal power, if he doesn’t forget to remain balanced in his life. He is assertive, innovative, a long-range thinker with an excellent ability to translate theories and possibilities into solid plans of action. He is usually tremendously forceful personalities, and has the tools to accomplish whatever goals he sets out for.

Kemper’s hair change really did a number on his ego. He had thought of himself as a man of power and virility, attractive to women and respected by men. Until the change, that is. When Kemper is installed as Master Apothecary to the King he shaves all the hair from his head and keeps this as his hair style to this day. He tells anyone that asks that he shaved his head as a vow of humble obedience to the King.
Profession [sws_short s=”prof”]
At 16, Kemper began his apprenticeship as an Apothecary at Bansu Castle. An Apothecary is a preparer and merchant for herbal remedies, drugs and medicines. When his parents died he was one of 11 Apothecaries recognized ‘up’ in the castle.
