Palin is 5 foot 3 inches tall and weighs 154 lbs. She looks to be about 63 years old with thick, medium length, white hair (with a wide black streak in the middle) in a flowing style. She also has ruddy skin and hooded chocolate-colored eyes. Her weaver/baker’s hands are smooth, strong and nimble. She has a baker’s guild tattoo on her left arm. She’s usually clothed in a bone white chemise, a blue linen over skirt with a bodice made of Orange with Grey trim and lacing.

Father & mother settled in a modest home ‘on the ground’ north of Bansu Castle where Kemper & Palin were later born. See her family tree.
We say ‘on the ground’ because there are those that live ‘up’ in the castle proper and many more that live ‘on the ground’ near the castle. Father and mother (Kipall and Indra) passed away of natural causes, when she was twelve. When they died, Kemper had sister Palin come live near him up at the castle. At 20, Palin became an apprentice under Kemper, who had become court Apothecary to the King at Bansu Castle. Nine years later, she met (and immediately despised) the overly meek and mousy Agnaar Tuggle. Over the course of time, he convinced her to marry him in MV904.

Emotionally, Palin is a little on the delicate side. At twelve years old, Palin went to visit her older brother Kemper at Bansu Castle. She returned home to discover that her parents had died in their bed while she was away. She blames herself for not being there. The burden fell to her to settle the estate and move herself into a Corstagan (chaperoned home for single women) in Bansu near her brother. Removed from her childhood home and many friends, she became very lonely as Kemper had his apprenticeship to pour all of his energies into and little time or energy for her. This is the state she was in when Agnaar Tuggle saw and fell in love with her. She wanted someone strong to take care of her. She saw him as overly meek and mousy, unfit to even take care of himself. He was hopelessly infatuated with her. Gradually she saw his good humored persistence as a kind of strength that she could not dismiss.

Palin’s parents raised her to seek knowledge and challenges. In so doing she has become a master baker, basket maker and organizer. Her apprenticeship under Kemper went far but it was not what held her interests. Her husband and their sons greatly benefited from her skills. She would occasionally bake breads to sell at market and she regularly added to the stock of her baskets in the village warehouse. This is where the visiting merchants, coming by land or sea, would come to buy, trade or sell goods. Her goods regularly bring a good price and keep her family from want. She also has befriended the local apothecary by frequently letting her know where some new herb has come up or become ready for harvest.
